Astronaut André Kuipers gaat basisscholieren virtueel meenemen naar de ruimte. Met een speciale bus, die eruit ziet als een raketvoertuig, reist hij de komende tijd langs scholen. Kinderen nemen plaats, zetten een virtual reality-bril op en zijn eventjes zelf astronauten. Met de VR-bril bekijken kinderen de aarde vanaf honderden kilometers hoogte. Dat geeft ze hopelijk een nieuw beeld van onze planeet, de schoonheid en de kwetsbaarheid ervan, is de gedachte erachter. Het project genaamd [SpaceBuzz](https://www.spacebuzz.nl/) is vooral gericht op kinderen in groep 7. De initiatiefnemers hopen dat het ook in andere landen aanslaat. SpaceBuzz wil bij kinderen een effect bereiken dat veel astronauten hebben beschreven: hun kijk op de aarde veranderde toen ze de planeet verlieten. Ze keken achterom en zagen een kleine, kwetsbare blauwe bal in het oneindige niets. Het overview-effect, heet dat.  ### **ANDRÉ** Kuipers Het is vrijdag zeven jaar geleden dat Kuipers zelf de ruimte in ging. Hij verbleef ongeveer een half jaar in het internationale ruimtestation ISS. In april 2004 was hij al anderhalve week in de ruimte geweest. In totaal bracht hij meer dan tweehonderd dagen door in een baan rond de aarde. Sinds zijn terugkeer op aarde is Kuipers onder meer bezig om kinderen te interesseren voor ruimtevaart en wetenschap. Zo schreef hij tijdens zijn tweede missie een kinderboek, André het Astronautje. Daarvan werd ook een theatervoorstelling gemaakt. Kuipers schreef een boek waarin hij vragen van kinderen beantwoordt en er is een bordspel van André Kuipers op de markt.
